Hickory and Basil is what I'm calling a stream-of-consciousness webcomic, meaning I do not plan pages in advance; I do not really make thumbnails or think too hard about what they will look like, and I try to draw automatically with no or minimal sketching. I have not made character reference sheets and how I draw them may be inconsistent. The plot will go where it wants to go. Often, I worry so much about crafting a good thing, particularly a good story, that I do not make anything at all. Therefore, Hickory and Basil is an exercise in letting myself just do something. I only have slightly more of an idea of what will happen next than you do, and I really mean slightly.

Even if I have large lapses betwen updates, I do intend to always come back to update. Life has been large and confusing lately.
